How to Start a Blog Site

Nowadays, you often hear the word blog. However, the blog that we will talk about today is about a self-hosted blog having its own domain name (e.g. www.example.com) and hosted on a commercial web host. Go over these four set of steps and you’ll have your guide on how to start a blog site. A blog site or simply blog is a type of website where its contents such as articles, photos, videos or any combination of these contents, are arranged and presented in reverse chronological order.

For typical Internet users, the word blog is a well-known term around the Web and even on social media such as Facebook, Google+ or Twitter. There are substantial amount of blogs found on free blogging platform providers online today which includes Blogger, Tumblr and WordPress. These blogs are hosted on domain names such as blogspot.com for Blogger, tumblr.com for Tumblr and wordpress.com for WordPress (blog hosting platform).  This tutorial will guide you from ground up in setting-up a blog site.

1.) Prepare the 3 basic needs before you start a blog site

Making a project online requires you to at least have these three basic things to perform all necessary tasks during your online ventures. You probably possess all these three by now but might be unaware of how they can be organized for creating a website or blog site. These three items are basic knowledge, dedicated email, and online payment processor. When you are already familiar with the three basic things that are needed in maintaining, and even starting a website then eventually a blog site, then you may proceed to the next step.

2.) Gather the things you need in building a website

You have to collect the necessary components to build a website. These includes the two most essential part of a website – domain name and web host. You will need the items I stated in the previous step to obtain these two important items. Thus, to be more organized in performing this procedure, you may read the “three basic needs in starting a website” together with the “things you need in building a website”. These are actually the ingredients in building a website; remember a blog site is also a website.

After purchasing your domain name and paid for a web hosting service, now it’s time to associate these two elements for your website. That is, it is synonymous to giving your website with its own domain name. Yes, your website’s own domain name (e.g. www.example.com). When you have set these components successfully, then you’re all set to install the tool for your blog.

4.) Install WordPress on your website

At this point, you already have a working website. That is, you can access it thru its domain name. When you have followed the previous steps correctly, then you should be able to install WordPress (open source blogging software).
